Five new properties at New Street, Woodbridge

The construction at New Street, Woodbridge, Suffolk was awarded as a negotiated contract, due to the success on a previous scheme, and secured by Elliston, Steady & Hawes. The project involved the demolition of the existing funeral parlour, removal of hazardous material and the construction of 5nr high quality new build dwellings.

The site was in a very challenging location, being situated in the town centre of Woodbridge on a one-way street. In a very much collaborative manner, the Design Team sought early guidance from us to establish the most cost effective and optimum construction methods to enable the successful construction in such an extremely difficult area.

We were invited to attend very early Design Team pre-construction phase meetings to allow our input into the proposed construction. Having reviewed the original construction design we brought several suggestions to the table, which were duly implemented, that not only value engineered the scheme but provided surety to the programme.

The four three-bed timber framed homes and one four-bed timber frame home, were completed to a very high standard and featured en-suite bathrooms to the master bedrooms as well as an additional family bathroom, and a modern open plan kitchen, dining and living space to the ground floor, private gardens and private parking spaces.

Nr Nick Denny, Joint Chief Executive for the East of England Co-op, said:

“We’re incredibly pleased with this latest development. The past few months have been unprecedented, with the all industries impacted and needing to find new ways of working whilst keeping employees safe.

“We’ve worked with Elliston, Steady and Hawes on a number of local developments, who, despite the various restrictions and guidelines, have completed these new homes to an incredibly high-standing.

“This development will make a valuable addition to our investment property portfolio, whilst providing high quality family homes to rent.”
